BURUNDI

Burundi, a landlocked country, was ruled as a kingdom by Tutsi for over 200 years, before being occupied by  Germany & Belgium.  Political unrest occurred throughout the region because of social differences between the Tutsi and Hutu, provoking civil war in Burundi throughout the middle twentieth century.

Burundi is one of the ten poorest countries in the world.  Due to civil wars between Tutsi & Hutu, Burundi has a low gross domestic product . Cobalt and copper are among Burundi’s natural resources. Burundi’s main agricultural exports are coffee and sugar.
